1 year on ……

"Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago”

Warren Buffett

I launched DHC Capital a little under 1 year ago to build a firm, free of conflict of interests, specialising in providing liquidity solutions for clients facing stress, distress or an event-driven special situation.

I had modest expectations for the first year. I was hopeful we could be successful in identifying opportunities and winning work. I wanted to be fully funded as I knew we needed to have sufficient runway to build the brand and gain traction in the market. I also wanted to be totally focused on the business and not be distracted by having to manage cash flow on a regular basis.

The first 6 months were better than planned. We won work, delivered to clients on our promises and work products and were cash flow positive (click here to read our 6 month update). These early wins were key to building positive momentum and an inner confidence. We had planted the seeds and were now open for business.

The second 6 months capitalised on the positive momentum we had built in the first 6 months. We won work and achieved successful outcomes for our clients (click here to see our engagements). We also dipped our toe into some bigger, more complex and higher profile engagements.

It has been a highly encouraging first year, but now the hard work to establish ourselves begins. Over the next 6 months, we have a number of opportunities that we will work towards converting into engagements. We have to continue to build our brand. We have to be thought leaders and remain active around sector-specific opportunities.

We know that the path ahead will be filled with many challenges. We are ready to tackle these challenges head on through hard work, being opportunistic, thinking out of the box, perseverance and hopefully a little bit of luck on our side. There are no shortcuts in business (or life).

Our mantra - Think big. Dream big. Believe in yourself. Go out and make it happen.

Thank you to our clients, partners and friends who have supported us.
